Frequently Asked Questions

Q.      Are all tours ‘guaranteed’ to depart?
A.       Once you have initially ‘registered your interest’ for your preferred tour, you will be tentatively booked in. Once we have a minimum of 4 people interested in any particular tour, the tour will be confirmed to proceed.  We will notify you in writing, confirming this, and only at this point, we request a deposit payment.

Q.   What’s included in the price?
A.    Virtually everything – other than international flights, transfers, visas and insurance.  As well,  the occasional ‘optional’ activity you may wish to participate in, such as hot air ballooning over the Masai Mara, water sport activities on the coast, shopping, social recreational drinks and the occasional meal.

Q. When do we need to pay for our tour and is a deposit payment required
A.  At the time of booking your place on your chosen tour:  a deposit payment from $1,500 will also be required to secure your place on the guided tour.  Payment in full is required 3 months prior to departure, however we do offer payment options – you can make payment instalments any way you wish.  We recognise a trip to Africa costs a lot, so we are more than happy for you to pay to suit.   If you are booking and joining one of our tours within two months of the departure date, full payment for the tour and flights (if applicable) will be required at time of booking.

 Q.  How do I know what vaccinations I need to have?
A.   You will be sent all relevant information pertaining to everything you need to know for your trip with me to Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda once you’ve booked and paid the deposit.

Q.   Is it safe to travel to Africa?
A.    In this world, really “what is safe”?   If you keep your wits about you, act respectfully and responsibly then you should have no issue.    Yes it’s a developing country, and occasionally periods of unrest develop, really, what country doesn’t nowadays?,  but in all the years I’ve been travelling back and forth, I’ve never once had any issue regarding my safety.

Q.   Can we take small children, i.e. family groups?
A.    Yes, small children will be most welcome on my “Family Memories” tour.  Please contact me for more information on these.

Q.   What sort of things would we do for visiting / volunteering at the school?  Do you have to be a trained teacher?
A.    No you definitely do not have to be a trained teacher, or a teacher at all!  Our wonderful Director and Headmaster Tony Ngotho assists in this area also.   Really – anything goes!  It’s about interacting and having a fun day with the children and staff at school and they are very grateful for learning anything new, that they can practice and include in extra-curricular activities.
